Club Stuff: TGC Early History – Sheriff’s Reserve Range in October

Greetings TGC Members,

Longtime club member Dennis Shirk gave me some newspaper clippings and wrote a terrific article on TGC History a while back, longer than I would like to admit, and I want to apologize for taking so long to get this posted but here is Part 1. Please check it out when you have a few moments. Part 2 and 3 will follow shortly.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office has reserved the range for qualifications.  Dates will be October 21-24.  They will have a morning session starting at 8 AM and an afternoon session starting at 1 PM each of those days. They will use Pistol Bay #4, and will use the 200-yard rifle range for about 25 minutes in each session (for rifle qualifications). Your cooperation with this TGC community service will be greatly appreciated.  The range will show as reserved from 08:00 until 17:00 each day for this event, please plan accordingly!

A Note of Thanks From Jay Tucker!

We saw Jay Tucker today at the Steel Challenge match, (he wasn’t shooting), you know Jay, that’s the guy we have been raising money for to help get that hip replaced. Great news, he has a hip replacement surgery coming up in the next month or so.  He also asked me to send all of you who helped out at the matches, shot in the matches, purchased raffle tickets and some that just gave money a “sincere, bottom of his heart thank you.” He never would have been able to make this work without the generosity of his friends and shooting family.

He has one more fundraiser coming up at the Masonic Lodge in DeKalb which should get him over the top and very soon, on the operating table.

We wish you the very best of luck Jay, fingers crossed, prayers being said and positive energy will continue to flow your way till you are back shooting with us again.
