Notes From The TGC President: January 17, 2021

There has been a recurring problem with the club property being left in disarray and being misused. This includes target stands left on the ranges, as well as trash and boxes piled up in the bays/ranges. Non-approved items are also being used as target stands, and non-approved items used as targets. As far as I know, ALL members were required to view the club’s “Safety” video (that I have attached) before being accepted into the club. If your membership pre-dates the video, then you should be extremely versed in all of them from experience. In either case, there is ABSOLUTELY NO excuse for not following the rules. Most of them are based on common sense or common decency. Neither should it be left to a handful of individuals to pick up behind you. Proper range use and cleanliness is EVERYONE’S responsibility. And misuse in any way or form will subject you to immediate termination from the club. Additionally, if conditions have been unfavourable to allow burn barrels to be burned, and they are full, take your boxes and trash with you. I will also note that there are some more or less permanent target stands around the 100-yard mark on the 600-yard range. Your paper and cardboard targets are not to be left on them to allow wind, rain, and other elements to scatter them for others to pick up. If the stand can be moved, carry it to the side, out of the way.

If a range officer feels the need to temporarily close down a portion of the range for maintenance and clean up, we are as sorry for your inconvenience as we are the inconvenience it causes us to spend our range time cleaning up after other members. I would suggest that you lend a hand, if at all possible, to help speed up the process, and/or ease the amount of work left to them.

If you can not, or do not want to, follow the club’s rules, then turn in your keys. We don’t need you there. If anyone has a question or problem with or about any of this, you can call, or otherwise contact, me personally at, 903-490-1184.
